Christo Lamprecht

“I want to stay focused and try and win golf tournaments.”

Christo Lamprecht will make his debut in the Nedbank Golf Challenge after receiving a personal invitation from Gary Player to compete in “Africa’s Major”.

The invitation caps what has been a highly successful year for the 24-year-old Lamprecht, who made his professional breakthrough this August when he won on the Korn Ferry Tour.

He went on to finish ninth on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List to earn his PGA TOUR card for next season.

Lamprecht has enjoyed a remarkable rise in the game since being introduced to it at the age of three by his father.

The six feet and four inches tall golfer enjoyed a stellar amateur career highlighted by becoming the third South African in six years to win The Amateur Championship in 2023. He finished as the leading amateur in the 2023 Open Championship at Royal Liverpool.

After turning professional, Lamprecht finished runner-up in the 2024 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour.

Then in August 2025 he won the Pinnacle Bank Championship in his debut season on the Korn Ferry Tour on his way to securing a place on the PGA TOUR.

Lamprecht’s height enables him to hit the ball a prodigious length, but he had to adjust to several growth spurts while growing up and changed equipment a few times to accommodate this.

He is a former member of Louis Oosthuizen’s junior golf academy.
