Robin Williams

Williams makes his debut in the Nedbank Golf Challenge, courtesy of a personal invite from South Africa’s greatest ever golfer, Gary Player.

Born in Stellenbosch to South African parents from Springbok and Pniel, Williams’ father found work in the United Kingdom as a dentist and the family moved there when he was eight. He played for the England Boys and Men’s team, competed in the Junior Ryder Cup on the same team as the twins Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard, and then turned professional in 2021. After a brief stint on the Euro Pro Tour he decided that the Sunshine Tour offered the kind of competitive opportunities his career needed.

Williams broke through with a victory in the Fortress Invitational in his rookie season on the Sunshine Tour, and won the Fortress Rookie of the Year award for the 2023/24 season. His second place finish on the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit delivered by The Courier Guy earned him a DP World Tour card.

The 23-year-old Williams caught world golf’s attention with a finish of tied fourth on his debut in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland this year. He then returned home to the Sunshine Tour and successfully defended his Fortress Invitational title.
