Thriston Lawrence

Lawrence makes his third appearance in the Nedbank Golf Challenge.

The South African finished tied 13th on his debut in 2022, and tied 24th last year.

He heads to Sun City in great form this year and ready to make a strong claim to become the first South African winner of the Nedbank Golf Challenge since Branden Grace in 2017.

The four-time winner on the DP World Tour is in the midst of one of his most successful seasons as a professional with nine top-10s, including five runner-up finishes, on tour this year.

Growing up in Mbombela, Lawrence honed his game at the Nelspruit Golf Club where his father owned the pro shop. He rose to become one of South Africa’s top amateurs before he made the decision to turn professional at the age of 17.

He became the first winner of the new DP World Tour era when he claimed the 2021 Joburg Open.

In 2022 he became the first South African professional to be named the winner of the DP World Tour’s Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award.

That same year he won his national Open, the Investec South African Open, for the first time.
